All fundraising by individuals and teams so far will be rolled over into fundraising efforts for Pink Vail 2021. That means all participants who have registered will be automatically registered for 2021. Any funds raised to this point will be counted towards our 2021 goal, and participants will maintain their fundraising status and be able to build on it.

Pink Vail 2021 will be held March 26-28, 2021. It will be the event’s 10th anniversary and final year!
Due to COVID-19, we are asking people to pick a day between March 26-28, 2021 to celebrate Pink Vail with their friends and family in their own way. Participants are encouraged to do the winter sport they love by getting outside together where they live to celebrate their loved one who is or was battling cancer.

Pink Vail is the world’s biggest ski day to conquer cancer, raises funds to ease the pains of cancer treatment and supports patient care and patient programming for ALL patients of Vail Health's Shaw Cancer Center in Edwards, a 501(c)3. Pink Vail raises awareness throughout Colorado, the country and the globe, uniting the many people touched by cancer who share a common love for skiing and snowboarding. Individuals and groups compete to raise funds through social media, email, and traditional means. Donors range from those who write substantial checks to children emptying their piggy banks – all with a common goal of helping people affected by cancer to become survivors. Friends cajole friends into supporting the cause and plan outrageous team costumes. Leading up to event, the town and storefronts are pinkified, banners are raised and the air is filled with anticipation.

100% of Pink Vail donations and registration fees benefit all patients at Shaw Cancer Center through enhancements to patient care and patient programming. All Shaw patients, whether male or female, no matter their cancer diagnosis, have the opportunity to benefit from Pink Vail funds throughout their cancer treatment experience and beyond. These unique services can dramatically impact a patient’s quality of life, but are not typically covered by insurance.

Due to IRS regulations, any prizes or goods provided to an individual or organization, and are collectively valued at $600 or more; require Vail Health Foundation to file a 1099 with the Internal Revenue Service for the value of the goods provided. With the recent taxes regulations, the impact of this is likely to be minimal, but we recommend contacting your tax advisor to ask how this might affect you.

It depends.

  • Donations made to yourself through your DAF, private foundation or other supporting organization are not eligible for prizes.*
  • Donations made to you (the Pink Vail participant) from your ski day sponsors, who are not immediate family members, can be through a DAF, IRA Charitable Distribution, private foundation, or other supporting organization.  These donations are eligible for prizes for you, not the ski day sponsor.
*Due to IRS regulations, non-profit organizations cannot provide benefits to contributors, advisors, or to disqualified persons in connection with gifts from Donor Advised Funds (DAF’s), private foundations or supporting organizations. Individuals who are contributors or advisors to, or disqualified persons with respect to DAFs, private foundations, and supporting organizations may not split gifts with a DAF, private foundation or supporting organization (i.e. make separate payments) in order to reach a prize benefit level by aggregating those payments.
